fagus was conceived during several return visits to the home valley of Weidlingtal just north of Vienna.
It was originally produced as a one-off folio consiting of 42 C-prints 15x21cm, a poem and a reproduction of a botanical illustration packaged in a brown paper envelop.

Markus Gradwohl lives and works in Vienna, Austria. He is self taught in photography and has a background in ecology and environmental history.
